Lorsque je l’ai rencontré, France vivait avec Michel Berger. À cette époque, c’est lui d’ailleurs qui lui écrivait toutes ses chansons. Auparavant celle qui fut la compagne de Claude François et de Julien Clerc a eu la chance de collaborer avec le grand Serge. À propos de Serge Gainsbourg, France Gall confie : « C’est quelqu’un que j’avais du plaisir à voir parce que je l’admirais et j’aimais ce qu’il écrivait. Et j’aimais bien sa timidité, son élégance et son éducation. C’était très agréable comme relation. […] J’étais très impressionnée que cet homme travaille pour moi et s’intéresse à moi…».

Quelques années plus tard, Michel Berger fut foudroyé par une crise cardiaque et Pauline, leur fille mourait très jeune. Avant de disparaître, France Gall a traversé ces drames avec une force incroyable.

When I met her, France was living with Michel Berger. At the time, he was the person who wrote all her songs. Before that, Claude Francois and Julien Clerc’s ex was lucky enough to collaborate with the great Serge Gainsbourg. Regarding Gainsbourg, France Gall admitted, “He was someone I enjoyed seeing because I admired him, and I liked what he wrote. And I liked his shyness, his elegance and his manners. It was a very pleasant relationship. […] I was overwhelmed that this man was working for me and showing an interest in me.” 

A few years later, Michel Berger was struck down by a heart attack and Pauline, their daughter, died very young. France Gall faced these dramas with incredible strength, before passing away herself.

Когда я встретился с ней, Франс была замужем за Мишелем Берже. В то время он был автором всех ее песен. До этого Франс была подругой Клода Франсуа, Жюльена Клера… и ей повезло работать с великим Генсбуром. Она говорила о нем: «Мне нравилось с ним общаться, я восхищалась им, любила его произведения. Мне нравилась его застенчивость, элегантность, воспитание. Это было очень приятное общение […]Мне так льстило, что этот человек работает со мной, интересуется мною…» 

Через несколько лет ее муж, Мишель Берже, умер от сердечного приступа. Их дочь, Полин, умерла очень молодой. Франс Галль перенесла эти трагедии  с невероятным мужеством незадолго до своей смерти.
